Building Cloud Based Performance Test Lab: An Experiential Workshop
Abstract: Enterprises and ISVs are seeking to “cloud-enable” their applications for the obvious benefits that the cloud provides. The need for testing for cloud and testing the cloud has become imperative. In particular performance testing is a key element when it comes to cloud computing.
This session will help you to make the right decision of when to build your own lab on cloud and how. It will also discuss how to integrate your existing test lab with the lab set up on the cloud. A detailed step-by-step and live demonstration of building a performance test environment in the cloud is the major part of this session. The speaker will also share his practical insights on developing and executing scripts on the cloud. In the end the session would also dive into helping understand the most important aspect of monitoring the real time performance statistics while a test is running.
Many cloud based performance and load-testing tools claim to offer “cost-effective, pay per usage pricing and models”. However the reality is different. These tools and solutions provide partial performance testing results. For example, you may end up seeing only client side performance KPIs to analyze and take decision.
Audience takeaway:
- Why and when it makes sense to generate load from the cloud
- Additional requirements of integrating existing test lab with lab setup on cloud
- Challenges of generating loads from the cloud
- Debugging problems faced during generating load from the cloud
