  • Plenary Sessions

  1. 2 hour duration
  2. Largely case-study driven, and take a deep-dive into the topic in consideration.
  3. Will have very specific benefits and take-away,
  4. High level of audience interaction
  5. Audience can be a specific audience (Eg: Test Project Managers / Performance Testing Professionals / Mobile Testing Professionals etc.)
  1. Duration of 40 minutes including Q&A
  2. Topics would be more broad-based and address the entire audience

  2. Depth of the topic explored
  3. Audience will be a specific audience
  1. Duration of 5-10 minutes
  2. Number of slides limited to 5
  3. Logic behind the Lightning Talk - So what is the point of a Lightning Talk? It’s definitely not to make you get all stressed about squeezing years of experience into 5 minutes!

    No! The point is that because the talk is only five minutes long, you don't have to cram it with mountains of information. Just try to say something brief and interesting, and then get out in a hurry. If people want to follow up or ask questions, they will catch you during lunch and tea time.

GUIDELINES

  • Some tips for sure-shot selection


    • Does my presentation topic excite people?
    • Is what I have to say new content? (Should not have already been covered at another conference)
    • How does the content educate the audience? How does it add value?
    • What is the audience’s key take-away from my presentation?
    • Are my thoughts clearly expressed?
    • Layout / grammar / basic presentation

    The Technical Review committee will be looking for evidence that you are an expert in the topic that you have proposed and that the work is practically relevant and has originality and innovation. Make sure to leverage your individual or organizational expertise in the abstract submission.

  • Content Guidelines


    • Should be original material with a well-defined focus on the chosen topic
    • Must show examples, practical applications, cause & effect, and be supported by
       case studies
    • Company confidential information should NOT be disclosed.
    • Content should advance the Body of Knowledge for Testing and QA professionals
    • Sales pitches or distribution of marketing materials during presentations are
       strictly prohibited.

    All product demos, marketing / sales presentations would come under a sponsored and notified “Corporate Presentation Slot”

  • Documentation Guidelines for Tutorial Workshop (Duration: 2hrs)


    Completely filled in Speaker Submission Form (in the given Word template), which comprises:

    • An abstract of the topic - Minimum 300 words - must include Audience Prerequisites (if any), Intended Audience, Key Takeaways, Flow of content, Brief Description of any case studies included
    • A speaker profile (about 250 words) clearly highlighting the author’s experience and expertise in the chosen topic

  • Documentation Guidelines for a Plenary Session/Technical Track Session (Duration: 40 minutes)


    Completely filled in Speaker Submission Form (in the given Word template), which comprises:

    • An abstract of the topic - Minimum 300 words - must include Key Takeaways and Flow of content. (Please also include Intended Audience, Audience Prerequisites for Technical Track session)
    • A speaker profile (about 250 words) clearly highlighting the author’s experience and expertise in the chosen topic

NOTE:

1. Selection is based on rigorous review by the Technical Committee.
2. Authors of shortlisted abstracts will be required to present their topic to the tech review team through     web-conference. Finally selected papers will be invited to present at STeP-IN SUMMIT 2013 at Bangalore.
3. All selections will be published in the form of  Conference Proceedings CDs for Plenary, track sessions and     lightning talks / hard copies for tutorial workshops with permission for restricted use for the purposes of     ‘STeP-IN SUMMIT 2013’ only, in agreement with owner(s) / author(s) of material. Copyrights for each      individual submission will remain with the owner / author.
4. The selected submissions will also be uploaded on the STeP-IN Forum archives, with permission from the      owner / author.
5. There is no honorarium or expenses covered for accepted speakers. Each speaker does receive a     complimentary conference pass for Conference Days on 20-21 June, 2013.
