Data Mining: Best practices to re-use data

Abstract: Test data play an important role for any automation suite especially in large automation assignments. Reuse of existing data is most challenging part of the test data management activities. In case of parallel execution of automation scripts there are chances of dead locks and conflicts. To avoid these dead locks and conflicts data mining approach can be used which utilizes the master and client tables’ mechanism. In this approach automated test script executes stored procedure (SP) for data mining and that data would be used for test suite execution.

Audience take-away:

    • Any number of machines can access this Stored Procedure
    • All requests will be placed in Queue and served data sequentially.
    • Limited effort required to implement this solution.
