[ 1 billion searches - Our testing journey to scale the scale… ]
Our search systems are used by airlines and online travel agents to search for flight recommendations. The system is built to scale for 1 billion searches per day. It is a challenging environment to test a system of such scale. The problem is non-trivial since we release at faster pace of 2-3 weeks per release with product features, bug fixes and regulatory enhancements. This session will talk about how we test and scale this challenge of scale with different approaches, testing tools and methods for high growth and demanding traffic. The downside of not meeting such scale is that we lose out travelers looking at our customer websites. Our key goal is to assure our customers that our search system will grow to their variety of demands arising from their selling channels and websites. In this session will discuss couple of case studies where we use testing tools like canary testing, shadow or look alike environments, predict early alarms on scalability issues. The key takeaway for audience is to understand the problem of scale and how testers can help in achieving the design to scale using tools and methodologies
To understand system to test the scale, How Airline search work and how we test search products, How non-functional requirements drive testing needs
